BRAIN INJURY BIOMARKERS

Brain Injury Biomarkers

Establishing biomarkers for traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a key step in developing diagnostic assays that assess acute brain injury. This project mines existing proteomics, gene expression, and protein-protein interaction data sets to identify brain pathways affected by TBI and extract novel brain injury- specific protein biomarkers. We experimentally verify the identified candidates in injury-specific animal models, such as the murine model of penetrating ballistic-like brain injury.
